Third party and additional services

Shipping

Dickson Russell works with professional carriers to ensure that all artworks travel safely and securely. Air-ride suspension trucks can be provided if necessary.

Art Handling

Dickson Russell employs a teams of professional art handlers to ensure that all work is correctly handled on a client's premises and professionally installed, taken down, packed and unpacked.

Framing

Dickson Russell works with a variety of professional framers to provide a comprehensive service for the display of artworks of all media and periods. Bespoke frames, mounts and plinths can be made using museum quality conservation materials to suit a client's budget and image. All work would be collected and delivered to the framer concerned.

Restoration

Dickson Russell works with specialist craftsmen to arrange professional restoration of paintings, works on paper, sculpture, furniture etc. Both period and contemporary work can be undertaken. Each restorer would be asked to provide a written estimate prior to commencing any work on behalf of a client and to supply a written report and photographic documentation of the restoration process upon completion.

Labelling

Dickson Russell can provide museum-style labelling for each artwork on display. A client could choose to show only basic details or more informative biographical notes could be incorporated. Production of the labels could be co-ordinated through a client's in-house design department, if requested (view sample wall label).

Cataloguing

Dickson Russell can catalogue existing and new collections to provide clients with full details of each artwork. In addition, biographical information on each artist can also be provided. This information could form the basis of a more substantial, possibly illustrated, catalogue of the collection.

Photography

Dickson Russell can work with professional photographers to create a visual record of each artwork for a client. 35mm slides, transparencies or Jpegs can be requested. Work can be photographed on site or in the studio.

Valuation

Dickson Russell is able to provide valuations for insurance or sale purposes for individual items or complete collections.

Long-term care and development

Dickson Russell believes that it is important for a collection to be maintained and would, therefore, recommend that an annual walk through of the premises is carried out to ensure that all works and labels remain in situ and in optimum condition. As a result, Dickson Russell would arrange for any necessary restoration or ‘making-good’ to be carried out.

In addition, this period would give the client the opportunity to develop the collection through the acquisition of additional pieces, disposal of existing work or, more simply, by rotating the artworks within the designated spaces, which has the effect of keeping the work ‘fresh’. Dickson Russell could also work with a client’s Marketing and PR department to see how maximum use of a collection could be made.

Curating

For a client who does not wish to acquire work on a permanent basis, Dickson Russell can curate changing exhibitions within the corporate environment. Works can be selected in conjunction with the client and to a chosen theme. As for a purchased collection, Dickson Russell would engage the services of professional art installers and shippers to display the work in chosen sites and would recommend that information on each work is provided for the audience concerned.
